We head out in a bit of rain this morning to explore the Grand Cru wine trail of St Emilion. After a bit of winding along the tiny roads and dodging the little tractors pulling trailors of freshly picked grapes we found ourselves in Pomerol. The area is so beautiful with vineyards and chateau's as far as you can see. We pass by the great houses of Petrus and Cheval Blanc and many many more, and just pass by we do because we hear no one gets to go inside Petrus!
After a little more winding happily through the vineyards we head back to St Emilion village for lunch and a tasting at a local wine merchant. And then another tasting. Our last stop of the day was at the beautiful Chateau Fonplegade for a tour and tasting. The property was gorgeous and our guide was charming. A great end to a great day.
