Hiking through the Vineyards

November, 2015
We decided we needed to walk off some of that cheese and pate' we have been eating and found a beautiful village to village hike that winds through the countryside and vineyards.  The half-day hike starts in the village of Bonnieux and loops through the hilltop village of Lacoste, and then back.  It was perfect.

Start of the hike in Bonnieux.

Making sure we are on the right trail!

                                              Cherry orchards.

We are headed up that hill to Lacoste!

Olives, grapes and lavender! Oh MY!

                                Pretty sights on every turn.

                                           Getting closer!

                                           We made it!

                              Pretty Goats Cheese display.

                                 Enjoying an afternoon cafe.

The good ol' Deux Chevaux car.

After the hike we stopped for a late lunch in the small village, Maussane Les Alpilles.  We sat in an amazing picturesque square surrounded by plane trees and olive groves. Maussane and it's neighbor Mouries are the most important olive oil producing areas in the country.  Just Maussane itself has more than 37,000 olive trees.

Olive trees and more olive trees.
