The two LeClerc's are back in Italy and happily so! We have chosen parts of central Italy this time to explore, eat and enjoy. Our first stay is in the town of Bevagna in Umbria. It is in the province of Perugia and was originally an Etruscan-Oscan settlement. We are in the middle of the wine region of the Sagrantino grape which is indigenous to the region of Umbria. It is primarily grown in the village of Montefalco and surrounding areas. The grape has one one of the highest tannic levels of any variety in the world, and creates wines that are inky purple with an almost-black center.
Umbria is also known for its great fruity tasting olive oils and fine ceramics.
So, on our way here to Italy we had a brief and lovely stop over in Georgia to visit family and attend my beautiful niece's, Kerianna, wedding. What a treat and a great way to start our vacation.
